The Department Empowers Youth at International Girls in ICT Day 2025
On Thursday, April 24, the Department participated in International Girls in ICT Day 2025 hosted by URCA Bahamas, held at the British Colonial Hotel. This global initiative seeks to inspire and empower young girls to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).
Chief Immigration Officer Crystal McKay delivered an impactful presentation on the Department’s efforts to support and uplift women and girls in ICT. She encouraged the young ladies in attendance to be bold, break boundaries, and confidently pursue careers in the tech space. This presentation concluded with a question-and-answer segment led by Trainee Immigration Officer Krizia Thompson, who shared her personal journey, passion for technology, and path to joining the Department.
Officers from the Information and Technology, Drone, Enforcement, Permits, Enrollment & Customer Service, and Public Relations Units represented the Department, highlighting its continued commitment to gender equality, youth empowerment, and national development through innovation and education.
