On April 7, the Department of Immigration began training with a new squad of 54 recruits. They were met by senior immigration officials and the training unit at Eastern Parade Grounds. The recruits then proceeded to Mount Royal House, where Minister Hon. Alfred Sears and Director William Pratt addressed them and delivered their charge.
