Minister of State for Immigration Hon. Darron S. Pickstock, MP toured The Bahamas Immigration Department’s Detention Centre to assess ongoing improvements and construction works aimed at enhancing the facility’s operations and standards.
Minister Pickstock inspected key areas of the Centre, including both male and female dorms, medical and kitchen facilities, and received updates on ongoing works and operational needs.
The visit forms part of the Ministry’s continued efforts to strengthen the Department’s infrastructure and ensure that persons in the Department are accommodated in facilities that meet appropriate operational, health, safety and humane treatment standards.
Pickstock was accompanied by Permanent Secretary Ellison Greenslade and was met by Acting Deputy Director of Immigration Sean Gordon, Acting Assistant Director of Immigration Chedville Adams, Superintendent Carnnie Gibson, and the Detention Centre’s contractors.
