Officers Strengthen Marine Enforcement Skills at BAHWEN Workshop
Three officers from the Department of Immigration, including Da’Reesia Mott, Gr. I; Tia Charlow, Gr. II; and Toi Dean, Gr. II, recently participated in the WildAid/BahWEN/DMR Marine Action Partnership (MAP) Workshop, held in Eleuthera from January 22-24, 2025.
This three-day seminar, hosted by the Bahamas Wildlife Enforcement Network in collaboration with WildAid and the Department of Marine Resources, provided essential training to enhance the participants’ expertise in marine resource management and enforcement. Topics included provisions of the Fisheries Act 2020, investigative interviewing techniques, evidence collection, and CITES protocols, alongside field exercises to apply these skills in real-world scenarios.
This training highlights the Department of Immigration’s dedication to fostering specialized expertise, promoting staff development, and strengthening marine conservation efforts in support of national security initiatives.
