1) How long does the application process take?

Application processing times vary, however, if the request you have submitted, requires no interview, additional documents or information, the processing time would be (to a final decision)  4-6 weeks.

2) Do I have to pay a processing fee for the dependents?

Yes. Processing fees must be paid for every application (Besides Refugee, Diplomats and Government Workers) regardless of the age of the applicant.

3) How will I hear from the Immigration Department in reference to this application?

4) If this application is refused does the applicant have to leave the country?

An application that is refused and no reclassification has been granted by the Board is given twenty-one days to wind up their affairs and depart with evidence of the same being submitted.

5) Can I endorse my adult child on my Permanent Residence Certificate?

Children over the age of 18 cannot be or continue to be endorsed on their parents’ Permanent Residence Certificate. Those who were previously endorsed having attained the age of 18 will need to make an independent application for status of their own.

6) How do I enquire on this application to see how far it is?

You can email the office’s main email address (immigration@bahamas.gov.bs) and give the application ID # and the applicant’s name. Also, you can call the office’s Consultation Unit (242) 322-7530-9, or you can check with Reception Unit on the ground floor at Head Quarters or the Immigration Office where your application was submitted.
